Reveal
The reveal is the vertical part of a window opening in the masonry into which a window is fitted. In the case of an opening with an arched top, this is also referred to as the reveal, while a horizontal upper edge is known as the lintel. The frame is fixed within the reveal using installation anchors and is then insulated against the masonry or a timber structure.
