Fresh air in the house all summer long with insect screens

Fresh air has been proven to be a boon for our health. Unfortunately, many people are put off airing their homes in summer because they are afraid of pests getting inside. In such cases, an insect screen at the window provides the perfect remedy.

Air circulation protects against illness

Dry, stale air settles on the mucous membranes in the human body, which are then no longer sufficiently moistened. This gives bacteria a better chance of attacking the immune system. For this reason, airing your living space regularly is absolutely essential to ensure adequate air circulation. When a window is open, the old air escapes and is replaced by fresh outdoor air. Fresh air has a high humidity, so the mucous membranes receive enough moisture and illnesses are prevented. Airing is particularly important in winter, as the air from heating is very dry and therefore needs to be exchanged more frequently. But in summer, too, air conditioning and strong sunlight can lead to poor air quality, meaning that ventilation is also necessary during the warm season. However, this presents many people with a problem, as they are afraid of pests.

The summer battle with insects

Summertime is insect time. Flies, wasps, mosquitoes, horseflies, crane flies and so on. The list of summer guests is a long one. They are part of nature's cycle, but nobody wants these pests in their home. As a result, many people go without the important task of airing their homes in summer and thereby put their health at risk. The remedy for this problem is an insect screen. These fine-mesh screens are a simple yet effective means of keeping annoying insects out of your living space. With an insect screen, windows can be opened as usual and yet none of the flying pests will get into your home, as they are held back by the insect mesh. This simple method can be applied to all windows, doors and hatches and protects every room in the house. With an insect screen, pests in the home become a thing of the past.

A wide range of insect screen variants

Four insect screen variants are available: the roller blind, the door, the frame and the sliding panel.

  • The roller blind is a very functional variant, in which the frame is screwed into the window reveal so that the roller blind cannot be bypassed by insects. When needed, the roller blind can be pulled down to protect against pests. When the window is closed, the roller blind can remain rolled up, so that the view outside is in no way obstructed.
  • The insect mesh is better suited to entrances as a self-closing door. This can be swung open and thus serves as a second door. This type of protection is frequently used on side entrances, terraces or balcony doors. For owners of cats and dogs, flaps can easily be fitted so that your four-legged friends can go their usual way.
  • A third variant is the classic frame. This is robust and prevents insects from flying in at all times. It stays on the window all year round and provides reliable, secure protection.
  • The fourth variant is the sliding panel, which is particularly suitable for double windows. A panel is fitted in front of each frame and can be moved as desired. Suitable both for doors and for windows where access to the outside is required. With such an abundance of variants, there is a suitable solution for every need.

Pollen filter as a side effect

Insect mesh has a wonderful side effect that allergy sufferers in particular can take advantage of: the fine mesh fabric keeps out 90 per cent of all pollen. The secretions from plants cannot make it through the mesh and, like insects, are kept out of the living space. Especially in summer, when large amounts of pollen are moving through the air, the lives of allergy sufferers are severely restricted. Airing the bedroom is barely possible, as they pay the price by night-time at the latest and allergy sufferers get no rest. As a result, the air in the bedroom can, in some cases, end up stagnating for several weeks in summer. Insect mesh is an excellent solution to this problem too, so that even allergy sufferers can air their homes without any problems in summer and still continue to breathe freely.
